![]() Its well worth coming back to it every now and then to have a quick blast!.Īwesome insta gaming. This was a game I saw alot if adverts on VJUMP magazines back in 2003 and bought it after I finally got a Japanese PS2 during high school. The game plays very smoothly and fast, and its extremely satisfying to travel though the stages, swinging with your grappling hook and shattering enemies to bits The interesting thing is that the sword is not what you use to attack enemies with, but it rather freezes them and turns enemies into grappling points which you can latch onto and make them shatter. This is a 2.5D side-scrolling action game where you control 'Shark', a warrior equipped with a grappling hook and a sword. This is unconfirmed and based on 1 test run Workaround: Go to Config > Emulation Settings > EE/IOP > set Clamping Mode to Extra + Preserve Sign. It either ceases to function as you get there or it resets all the stones in random order. This is a relatively well known game in terms of Japanese exclusives on the PS2, and for a very good reason, its simply FANTASTIC and very much playable for non Japanese readers. Description: When powering up all the stones on the ground, heading to the elevator doesn't work. A 3rd game made by Alvion through the 'Game Yarouze!' Game design Competition after Sarcadia and Poinie Poin. Japan Exclusive 'High Speed Chain Action' game. □ Japan Exclusive Games: チェインダイブ / Chain Dive. #chaindive #ps2 #hiddengem #playstation2 #japanesegame #retrogamer #playstation #chaincombo #instagamer #gamestagram #gamecollection #gamesroom The game is going up in value due to a combination of it being good and a Japan only release, prices currently between £60 - £90. I have included a couple of videos showing the basic mobility and also a vid of just how insane the game can get!! When you freeze an enemy with an attack you can then grapple hook their frozen body to pull yourself into them for a grapple strike! This allows you to keep up the combo. Think of it like an elastic band, pull back and release the hook at the right time to gain crazy height and distance! To do this you utilise the grappling hook and the unbelievable momentum it can give you when used properly. The main aspect of the game is the chain system, using the insane mobility to keep your chain kills going as long as possible. Think the Guyver mixed with Bionic Commando! 2.5D high speed platformer that feels like a shmup at times! I still definitely recommend ChainDive to curious players, despite all that. This Japanese only PS2 release is a massive hidden gem! Tight controls and tons of room for skillfull play. And there are times when the game seems incredibly unfair, when you're desperately trying to find a dot to hook onto or when you fall into the abyss at the bottom of some stages with seemingly no way back up. Result in a huge feeling of relief and satisfaction, it is still incredibly frustrating until the "trick" of each stage clicks in your head. The big problem with the game in general though, is the difficulty level. A stage with no floor that has the player swinging from rooftop to rooftop, a stage with an incredibly high tower that must be climbed while fending off attacks, a stage exploring a cave to fin switches, and so on.Īll these stages are a ton of fun to play, and the variety ensures that the game doesn't outstay its welcome. But the stages that follow are all totally different. ![]() Unlock Time Attack Mode Successfully complete the game. You can also ask your question on our ChainDive Questions & Answers page. The first stage seems like a stage from any other mid-00s action game, with the added gimmick of the lasso: you travel from left to right defeating enemies on the way to the end of the stage. Home PlayStation 2 ChainDive We have 1 cheats and tips on PlayStation 2. The genius of the game is that it uses these small ingedients to make every stage different to the last. There are also enemies, who are defeated by first being frozen by your double-bladed weapon, and then smashed, by attaching the lasso to the frozen enemy and smashing into them. From the green dots littered around each stage.
